The two storey community building continues to be well used.
Two pre-school teachers work with the small children in the ground floor schoolroom every morning and they continue with afternoon activities for the older children.

Village meetings are held in the upper floor.

Reading mornings attract senior village residents when books and the daily papers are available.

Throughout the summer months of 2009, our team of Master of Social Work students visited Palana on a very regular basis to work in our community building and continue our links with the people of this village.

This student team was based in Ahangama and reference to their Palana activities will be found in their own diaries.
