Adopting further communities for support and assistance
The Project as a whole was, in it origins, essentially about empowering tsunami-devastated and inland communities in need to re-establish community identity and engage with the regeneration, regeneration and construction processes. These processes continue as the project moves in new directions to support the development of rural communities.
This is a complex process which incorporates the provision of:
- Physical infrastructure and community needs such as pre-schools, community buildings, wells for agriculture and drinking purposes, banking facilities, boats, equipment for business ‘start up’ computers and other equipment.
- Emotional and spiritual support, provided by our volunteers who spend time in our various communities
- Intellectual support, provided by our volunteers who engage in teaching, teacher training, curriculum development and the conduct of workshops
- Financial support, for example, to enable children to attend school and complete their formal education and to provide on-going training for the teachers in the schools we have established
So far the Project has partnered and made such contributions in all of the locations featured on this website.
Our Project intends to make a long term difference. It continues to support the sustainable development in these locations whilst also exploring new opportunities for establishing a presence elsewhere in Sri Lanka.
