August 11th
Today started as normal, with fitness with the university students at 8am. We then coached swimming, badminton and volleyball. Before lunch we also had a small amount of time to practise for the big performance tonight.
In the afternoon we held an exam for the children of Pambahinne, of whom we have been teaching English to for the past 6 weeks. 4 of us collected the children from the village and brought them to the university halls to take them exam. After the exam we took the children back to the village where we were thanked by many parents. We then headed to Prof. Sunhil’s house, as he had invited us around for tea to thank us for all the work we had done the past 6 weeks. We all felt very happy with all the hard work we had done.
We then headed back to the university where we were all excited to get ready for the cultural show. The show was an amazing display of Sri Lankan culture; dancing, singing and drama. Then came our turn to display some of our British culture. We had put together a variety of songs to dance to including, Steps and The Village People. At the end of the show there was a bonfire and a party, where we all danced into the night. It was a great experience.
We were all feeling very sad to be leaving in the morning, but excited to be heading to Kandy.
