July 14th and 15th (Pascale)
Thursday the 14th was a religious holiday in Sri Lanka as it was the day of a full moon, this meant both the university and primary schools were shut for the day.
This gave them the perfect opportunity to explore a bit of the country, they therefore chose to visit Bambarakanda which with a heaight of 863ft is the highest waterfall in Sri Lanka! It was a spectacular sight and another amazing experiance.
Friday the 15th saw another visit to Pambahinna pre school in the morning, during this visit Pascale and Katie focussed on improving the students throwing and catching whilst also teaching them English colours. After learning some Sri Lankan songs the pair also taught the class songs such as ‘I’m a little tea pot’ and the ‘hokey cokey’.
In the afternoon the group took part in their first karate lesson at the university which they found very enjoyable if not a little challenging!
