Matara and Galle – Day 3
We visited an ayurvedic doctor in “Pancha Karma Clinic” that is located in Matara in the morning. Matara is a big town in the South area and we saw many guesthouses on the way to Matara.
Unfortunately, this clinic was closed and we could not have any treatment. However, the meeting with the doctor who has been running his clinic for 23 years and has 50 patients everyday (mainly local people) provided us with an impression that ayurveda is well-known for medical purpose rather than relaxation (no foot rubs, the boys were disappointed). In the afternoon, we visited the historic town of Galle and the Southern Province tourist information centre, located in the city park. Though staff in the tourist office is well trained and understand their business, we found limitations in amount of information such as leaflets (leaflets written in English were out of stock, French and Korean ones were on the shelf). After the interview, we walked around the fort and town. Galle is the second largest city in Sri Lanka and has many accommodations with colonial style.
