Today was the first day of our Sri Lankan dance workshop. It is fair to say that Britain’s not got talent! As we tried to follow the graceful dance instructor, it was clear that this was going to be one of the biggest challenges yet. A certain gangly member (Matt) particularly struggled with general co-ordination, even when the teacher broke it down into small steps and we instructed “just keep twirling, Matt”. Luckily Matt didn’t seem too phased by it all and even requested further practice sessions later in the day.

It didn’t go down quite as well as we had expected, however after a few repeats the children started to bellow “All Night Long” whilst shaking rattles and crashing cymbals. Anna and I were then reduced to a puddle of sweat following the western dance class we held. As we taught the routine to “Please don’t stop the music” we were slowly beginning to plea for the music to stop. The children picked the steps up effortlessly, which is quite embarrassing considering we forgot some of the routine which we had spent 2 hours choreographing the night before.
We called it a day after a few breathless games of “What time is it Mr Wolf” and collapsed into chairs whilst watching the paint dry,
