Wednesday 29th July by Matt
Today we experienced a relatively normal Hiththatiya day. We spent time with the pre-school kids in the morning on the topic of fruit and vegetables. This actually turned out to be more of an education for us as we came across a number of exotic fruit and vegetables! Later we helped the children to construct pictures of their favourite vegetables using potato stamps. This proved to be very messy! We had a spare half an hour between the kids leaving and lunch. During this time, Sampath, our English speaking village guide, proceeded to climb a coconut tree. Safe to say, he got down without a scratch with freshly picked coconut. He then opened the coconut so that I could drink its milk…tasty!
After this, we all enjoyed a lunch consisting of rice, curry and fish, lentils and the like. The afternoon was as fun – filled as ever, but very, very hot. All said, a very packed day!
