Thursday 23rd July by Georgina
Today brought another much anticipated day in Rassandeniya. We all love to visit this school because the teacher is so pleased to have us here, and to tell us stories of the 2007 team with such fondness is lovely to hear. The children, as usual, were on their best behavior and very, very adorable. It is easy to fall in love with these children, until one grabs a pen off the other and all hell breaks loose. Thankfully, we can give the children back at the end of the day! The morning consisted of lots of singing and dancing, the ‘hokey kokey ‘ a definite favourite amongst all three schools that we are visiting. Along with this, came ‘twinkle twinkle little star’ and many Sri Lankan songs which we pitifully tried to join in with. This was obviously not a success as the teacher burst into fits of giggles. Well at least we tried!
Unfortunately, there was a small class today, as there seems to be some sort of virus going around the village. This, however, did not dampen the spirits of those who were able to attend school. They were lively and fun and certainly very excited to see us which is always encouraging! After school, we had lunch at Miss Felicitia’s house which was lovely and we are looking forward to visiting again soon.
