Monday 13th July by Ashera
This morning the six of us that had the day off went along with Joy and David along with several of the Sarvodaya members to see next year’s village, Kirenwella. What an incredible opportunity! It was an unforgettable moment to see the strip of land that will be next year’s school. I felt a sense of excitement looking at the site and thinking about the next year’s group of students and the amazing opportunities they will have ahead of them and they don’t even know it yet. It was so exciting!
Once again, we were greeted by welcoming villages who presented us with Bodhi leaves and flowers as gifts for us all; happy to see us as usual! Photos were taken of the pre-school site and then we were ushered into a community building. We were all given seats and offered many cups of very sweet tea, bananas and cake, not forgetting the fish balls! Jack enjoyed several of those.
Many speeches were given that were kindly translated by Bandulla who works for Sarvodaya so we could understand what was being said. Everyone spoke with excitement and with much happiness about the forthcoming project. It was truly a special moment. We were very lucky to be there.
