Tuesday 28th July by Andy
Based at the University for the day Franky, Emma, Laura S and Andy led the morning fitness session for the sport students at 7.30am. The sessions comprised of a variety of speed and agility (S.A.Q) stations that were set up on the grass area. The circuits performed by the students, working in small groups, included speed ladders, hurdles and shuttle runs with some ultimate frisbee thrown into too! The session was quite intense and the students put in a lot of effort so the team was pleased with how it went. However, only at the end were we informed by the co-coordinator of the sport science degree that the students were then due to have an assessed fitness test straight after which contributed to part of their mark for the module! We managed to persuade the staff to postpone the test until the next day so as to give the students some time to rest having just completed a demanding first session. Instead we did help with the basic, less strenuous tests of recording the students height, weight and flexibility readings.
