Wednesday 22nd July by Emma
Only the girls turned up for the fitness session 7.30am-8.30am so Franky, Laura, AJ and Laura took them for Badminton instead. 10.30am-12pm was spent coaching the girls Netball.Emma, Andy, Lou and Sam were in the village. They spent the morning with pre-school (8.30am-12pm). They helped the children with their workbooks then played games with them and took them into the playground to play on the swings and seesaw.
12pm-1.30pm they played volleyball and cricket with the older children. They then had lunch at a villager’s house and went back to the University to help with the afternoon session.
It turned out we got the afternoon off as there was a party being prepared around the pool (this was why none of the boys turned up to the morning fitness program)! The party was being thrown by the 1st years for everyone else and it was for the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences. It was a friendship party, a chance to get to know other students from different courses and years.
Before we headed to the party Emma, AJ and Laura S went over to the playground to watch the University Netball trials. Some of the girls are of an amazing standard and it looked like a very good team was picked.
The party was amazing, all the first years lined up outside the swimming pool entrance and all the seniors (including all of us) had to walk along the line and shake hands with everyone on our way in! They then had a few speeches and welcome drinks were passed around, 6 seniors were asked to light some candles and Andy was dragged up to light the remaining few! We then moved to the field and had a bonfire with lots of singing, then back to the swimming pool for Mr. and Mrs. Applied Social Science, more singing, dancing and acting.
