Monday 20th July by Emma
Emma, Andy, Lou and Sam were based at the University, Andy and Lou visited the local school 8am-10am to teach English. It was our last day their so they had a little ceremony and gave us all gifts to say thank you. They said the Durham students are the silver lining to their black clouds and that we will always be in their hearts!Emma and Sam helped Darren take the fitness session 7.30am-8.30am at the University. He introduced a lot of new stuff including dynamic stretches which were named after animals, a few examples are the ‘chimpanzee’ the ‘crocodile, the ‘kangaroo’ and the ‘bear’! The students really enjoyed this and it gave them an amazing work out!
They then did Volleyball 8.30am-10.30am and Lou and Andy were back to help them with Rounders 10.30am-12pm. 4pm-6pm was spent doing a theory session with Rob Cramb. He looked at Periodisation and training programs. He got the students in to groups and made them look at individual sports and what you would need to consider to make an adequate individual training program, each group then had to get up and present what they had come up with.
Laura S, AJ, Franky, Laura B and Rob Cramb were all in the village 8.30am-3pm. They started in the pre-school, using the parachute to play games such as cat and mouse and cops and robbers.
They then went down to play with the children in the big school. They started with British bulldog then split the boys and girls up. The boys played football with Franky and Rob and the girls played rounders with Laura, AJ and Laura.
They then passed the last of the day with other fun games such as under/over, ladders, duck duck goose and stuck in the mud.
