22nd August (written by Lorna)
This morning was spent, as most mornings, in Gandarawatte pre-school. Today we organised an arts activity with some of the materials we brought from the UK. I worked with Tharindu, who was one of the shyest children when we first arrived. However, he is now a lot more confident, to the point that he felt he was able to express himself creatively by sticking the crepe paper, meant to decorate the body of the caterpillar the class was making, onto my arms instead! But joking aside, it’s a real pleasure to see a child once so withdrawn that he wouldn’t stand in the circle for song time now join in the words and actions to our pre-school repertoire and to generally interact with us!
